Our Pictures

This website has lots of pictures of the fish that we offer for sale. Will the fish you get look like the fish in our pictures?

No! This is like buying a kitten or a puppy, that will change as it grows and matures.

Click here to read more about our fish.

We stock and ship fish that are the ideal size to ship.

Not so small that they will not do well when shipped.

Yet not so big that they will have trouble adjusting to a new home.

The fish in almost all of our pictures were young fish like the ones we ship that we raised up, and you can too!

Cardinal Tetras are one of the very most beautiful freshwater fish. But in our experience they are difficult to ship. Click here to read more about why we do not sell or ship Cardinal Tetras. But Neon Tetras are almost as beautiful as Cardinal Tetras, and Neon Tetras are much easier to ship. We have lots of Neon Tetras for sale.

Appropriate Home
An aquarium with 15-gallons or more water, a small exterior power filter with a BIO-Wheel, a layer of gravel at most 1/4-thick, and an aquarium heater adjusted to between 75 and 80-degrees F. Click here for more about warm water aquariums.

Recommended Diet
Floating Flake Food for Tropical Fish. Click here for more about feeding fish. I feed these small fish a few Black Worms every other day. Just two or three worms for each fish. Usually they swallow half of a worm and swim around with the other half of the worm hanging our of the their mouths for a while. Click here for more about Black Worms.

Neon Tetras should be kept in a school with at least 6 Neons and 10 is better. The same is true for Glowlight Tetras and Black Phantom Tetras. These are all schooling fish that live best in a school with their own species. Here is a list of fish that will do well with Neon Tetras: Glowlight Tetras, Black Phantom Tetra, and Harlequin Rasboras. Click here to buy these fish.
Here are some more good tank mates for Neon Tetras: White Clouds, Glass Fish, Corydoras Catfish, Fancy Guppies, Honey Gouramis, Sunset Honey Gouramis, and a few Ghost Shrimp. Neon Tetras will usually not do well in the same aquarium with Large Tetras such as Black Neon Tetras, Black Skirt Tetras, Serpae Tetras, and other similar fish that are too aggressive for Neon Tetras.
You may have gotten advice that Neons will do well with most other types of Tetras, but our experiences with these fish in our aquariums shows us that they won't, and for that reason we have divided the Tetras into two groups called the Smaller Tetras and the Bigger Tetras. Click here for more about the Bigger Tetras.
Quite often we get letters saying that some fish stores recommend keeping Tiger Barbs with Neons, but this certainly will not work, and the Neons will almost always be miserable.
Click here to read more about several other groups of compatible fish.

Size and Lifespan
Neon Tetras, Glowlight Tetras, and  Black Phantom Tetras will grow to about 1.25" and rarely bigger. Neon Tetras have lived for 10-years, which surprises many people.
