Flakes or Pellets, which is Better?
If your fish will eat pellets, they will be better, because pellets have less surface area and so slightly less of the nutrients
will dissolve into the water. Also if fed properly, more of the pellets are eaten and won't end up in the filter. Pellets are less expensive
per oz. But many fish like the flakes better. You can make baby food from the flakes ... click
here for more about that. Maybe try both pellets and flakes. ;^

| What Size are these Pellets? |
|
|
| These pellets are just the right size for most fish! ;^ } Even when
the fish cannot get these pellets into their mouths, the pellets soon soften in the water and the fish are able to bit off pieces from
the pellets. Another solution is to put the pellets in a peppermill and grind them into smaller bits, but that is usually is not necessary.
The pellets are round and about the diameter of a pencil lead, 1.5 mm., and even large fish can see these pellets and eat them. |

|
| What Size Container of Fish Food?
|
|
|
| It's easy to make the mistake of buying a single large container of food that may
go stale long before the fish finish eating all of it. It's better to buy a smaller container and to immediately put the lid back on
tightly after each feeding. Fresh food is better than saving a few dollars and feeding stale food. |

Is premium food good for all Fish? |
|
|
Almost all !! And that answer surprised us. For
many years we'd been told and then repeated that different species of fish often required different foods. For example, that Goldfish
need a more acidic food. That piscivors need more protein. That Mbuna Cichlids need more plant matter. So we are amazed that almost
all fish do very well on this same premium food formula.
Exceptions? Eels will not eat it for us, so far. For a while we thought the Needlenose Gars wouldn't eat it, but now we've seen them
eating the flakes!! We're surprised. Almost all of our fish eat it, and when they eat it, they get more colorful and more energetic,
and they grow faster with less waste in the aquarium, so the water stays cleaner longer. |

Customer Comment
|
| |
Hi Tom and Nevin,
Just wanted to let you know that I got some of the pelleted Xtreme cichlid food from aquariumfish.net back in
April. I've been feeding it to my juvenile angelfish since then.
Along with very fast growth and enhancement of their colors, I have also noticed that they seem to be less aggressive
with each other during feeding time. I'm
hypothesizing that they feel more sated more rapidly, though I can't prove it. Whatever the cause, the smaller
angels (there are 12 total in my 90 gallon) are getting a chance to really chow down and grow.
Anyway, one more big 'thumbs up' for the Xtreme food.
Thanks,
Drew |
