Corydoras Catfish

31 July 2014
False Bandit Cory Cat
This fish in a member of the huge genus of South American Catfish named Corydoras. There are too many Corys and not enough names.

This fish looks similar to the Bandit Cory Cat, and due to the shortage of names, it's called the False Bandit Cory. If that sounds complicated just forget about it, but remember all Cory Cats are wonderful aquarium fish. Hardy, energetic, and a nice size for most aquariums.

We really like this catfish and enjoy watching them in our aquariums.

Fire Belly Newts for sale

31 July 2014
Fire Belly Newt
Just like our fish are premium fish, our Newts are premium Newts!  ;^ }

This picture was taken in our facilities by one of us of one of our Newts.

These Newts live best in a terrarium, where they can climb out of the water. They need live food, such as live Black Worms.

Long ago the Bailey Bros. sent a Fire Belly Newt to their nephews in Chicago. At last report it was about 17-years old !!

Gold Tiger Barbs for sale online

30 July 2014
Gold Tiger Barbs
These guys really battle with each other. Head to head, then all of a sudden, they swim in a very small circle, each one chasing the other one's tail.

They are the same species as the Regular Tiger Barb, but they lack the darker pigments, which makes them look mostly yellow, red, and orange. Especially if you feed them plenty of premium food.

Calico Telescope Goldfish for sale

30 July 2014
Calico Telescope
Flash, right now we've got a few of these gorgeous premium Calico Telescope Goldfish.

The beautiful calico orange patterns of their bodies contrast with the green plants in the background. If you've wanted one, now is the time to go for it.

DrTom has this exact Calico in a 35-gallon aquarium with a Black Moor and a Pearl White Oranda.

Neighbors come by to borrow a couple of eggs or to complain about the party across the street on Saturday night, but they get to looking at the Goldfish and forget all about the eggs and the party.

DrTom likes a combination of Goldfish with different colors, which makes each fish identifiable, easy to name, and unique.

Platy fish for sale online

30 July 2014
Gorgeous Platies
Wowie Zowie look at those Platies. Both pictures were taken in our aquariums by one of us of our fish! To be honest we've never seen Platies anywhere else like the Platies in our aquariums.

If you order Platies from us, they won't look like these, but they have the potential to develop into Platies like these. Like a young kitten or puppy that has the potential to become a beautiful cat or dog.

You need very good young Platies like these, good water in your aquarium, feed really good food a few times a day, plenty of TLC, and a little bit of patience.

That is the way we do it. It's not hard, and it works every time for us. These Platies shine!

Gold Spot Pikehead for sale

30 July 2014
Gold Spot Pikehead
This is a very beautiful and interesting fish, which is closely related to the Gouramis, and like most Gouramis it naturally lives in water with low pH and low oxygen.

Unlike Gouramis this species is a predator that ambushes small fish and surrounds them with its huge extended mouth.

This is probably a fish that we should recommend to so-called advanced aquarists.

It's also a mouthbrooder that has spawned in aquariums.

Male Jewel Cichlid

30 July 2014
Jewel Cichlid
There are several Cichlid fish species in the genus Hemichromis. The fish shown above may be Hemichromis guttatus. Whatever the scientific name it seems to be a good aquarium fish.

It's inexpensive, gorgeous, very hardy, very energetic and active. So far they haven't really caused trouble, and seem to be able to avoid trouble.

When we got them, they were about 1" long with lots of metallic blue, but now they're 2" long with more red, as you can see.

We feed them premium flake and pellet foods, which they love to eat.

Rubbernose Plecos. at AquariumFish.net, where you can shop online for a Plecostomus Catfish.

29 July 2014
Rubbernose Pleco
This is a wonderful energetic catfish that's not as nocturnal as most Plecostomus species. So you'll often get to see it during the day, as it scours the bottom of the aquarium for algae and bits of food. Grows to about 5". Again a highly recommended aquarium fish.

Wakin Pond Goldfish at AquariumFish.net

29 July 2014
Wakin Goldfish
These Goldfish were developed as pond fish like Koi and Pond Comets. They're Goldfish with unique fantails. They're rarely seen and greatly enhance the pond they live in. They are also an example of the unique fish available here at AquariumFish.net.

Red and Black Oranda Goldfish for sale online

28 July 2014
Red and Black Oranda
One of the very most beautiful Oranda Goldfish color varieties. Look at the contrasting coloration!

The one in the picture above is about 5" long. The ones in our aquariums now measure about 2" to 2.5" long.

You'll need to feed lots of premium food and keep the water conditions very good for a year or so.

Then you can look at your fish and be ever so proud, just like DrTom, who raised this one.

Black Moor Goldfish for sale

28 July 2014
Black Moor Goldfish
No one can honestly say that this is a colorful fish, but somehow a Black Moor makes all the other Goldfish seem more colorful, so a Black Moor adds greatly to a Goldfish Aquarium.

The one in the picture just above is rather long and slim, but other Black Moors are sort and stubby. They vary just like people. No offense meant.  ;^ }

Red Spotted Severum for sale online

28 July 2014
Red Spotted Severum
Look at the coloration! This is one of the most beautiful freshwater fish in the world. To my eyes the colors rival Discus Fish!

The problem is they've been out of stock for quite a while. But we've been nattering our buyer, and he just got us some that are 3" to 3.5" long and looking good but have not yet developed the coloration shown in the picture.

To get the maximum coloration you'll need to
feed them premium food and grow them a bit, which is what DrTom did with the fish in the picture.

By the way this fish is a mild Cichlid species that's not too aggressive. They're also another good example of the unique fish available here at AquariumFish.net.

Bushy Nose Pleco
The top picture shows a young male, and the lower picture shows a young female. The males have more whiskers. Both of these pictures are of our fish in our aquariums.

The unique appearance of this fish stuns a lot of aquarists. They grow to be about 4.5" long, which is just the right size for most aquariums. They're hardy, energetic, and can live for several years with good care.

Ruby Red Pencilfish
This is probably the prettiest of all the Pencilfishes, and it's hardy, energetic, and very mild tempered. Sounds ideal, and it is ideal in aquariums with small fish like Neon Tetras, Harlequin Rasboras, Cory Catfish, etc. Very highly recommended.

Neon Tetras for sale online

27 July 2014
Neon Tetra
This is a beautiful young Neon Tetra, whose ancestors lived in the Amazon Rainforest in South America, but this fish was spawned and raised on a famous fish farm.

Neons are probably the most popular aquarium fish, because of their intense coloration, which can be seen across the room. Even though they're only about one inch long!

Given a proper aquarium and premium food they are very hardy, energetic, and can live up to 10 years.

Cardinal Tetras for sale online

27 July 2014
Cardinal Tetra
For a long time all the Cardinal Tetras in aquariums were wild fish from the Amazon Rainforests in South America, but now very skillful fish farmers are breeding them.

This is probably better for the rainforests, and tank-raised Cardinals are better for aquariums, because they are younger and well adapted to life in aquariums. In the past we did not recommend Cardinals, but now we do.

Feather Fin Squeaker, Synodontis Catfish, for sale online

27 July 2014
Synodontis Catfish
Oops! The item featured just below, Upside Down Catfish, is sold out for now. So we don't have any to ship. We apologize, if this disappoints you.

Right now we have two other Synodontis Catfish, that are both very nice aquarium fish and are shown shown in the pictures just above.

The top fish is probably a hybrid of two different Synodontis species. Some fishkeepers don't like hybrids, but many popular aquarium fish like Angelfish, Swordtails, Platys, Mollies, and Serpae Tetras are hybrids, and they're very popular.

The fish in the second picture is a so-called Feather Fin Squeaker, and they, like all Synodontis, will make squeaking sounds.

Upside Down Catfish
DrTom remembers long ago, when a small pet store had an aquarium containing a few Upside Down Catfish,  and on that aquarium was a cartoon speech bubble, which said, "Hey, am I upside down or is this aquarium upside down?"

UD Cats, like the ones shown above, are hardy, energetic, cute, don't grow to be too big, fun to watch swimming upside down, and good aquarium fish.

Zebra Danio
This is a long-long time aquarium favorite. It's hardy and very active. We've grown them to be about 1.75" long, but some others say they've grown them to about 2", maybe so. Zebra Danios can live in either a cool water aquarium or a warm water aquarium. Highly recommended.

Aquarium Frogs at AquariumFish.net

24 July 2014
African Dwarf Frogs
Someone said that this African Dwarf Frogs was seen tiptoeing home late last night, after too much fun at a rowdy party. It's possible, but knowing this particular frog the way we do, we've got our doubts.

Even when they're not tiptoeing these small Frogs are still very entertaining. A long-long time ago The Bailey Bros' mother, Faye, kept one in a pickle jar with a sprig of foxtail plant in her kitchen on the counter by the stove.

On cold days she'd move it a couple inches closer to the stove, where it would be a little warmer. It lived there for many years.

Angelfish

23 July 2014
Beautiful Angelfish
This is one of DrTom's fabulous freshwater Angelfish. In particular it's a Leopard Angelfish, a very nice one.

DrTom got this fish from AquariumFish.net, and raised it up in a 55-gallon aquarium, feeding it premium flake and pellet foods 5 to 8-times a day.

Each feeding was a small meal about 60% of the maximum amount the Angelfish could eat at one time. It's not good to feed them the maximum amount they can eat at one time.

Angelfish are wonderful aquarium fish, and it's lots of fun to raise up a beautiful Angelfish like this one. Give it a try.

Clown Loaches at AquariumFish.net

23 July 2014
Clown Loaches
You just can't help but love this fish. Of course they're beautiful. Very beautiful. They're also playful and very entertaining.

They use the barbels around their mouths to find and eat bits of uneaten food on the bottom of the aquarium, which helps keep the aquarium clean and the water fresh.

Clown Loaches usually do not bother other fish and can defend themselves from most aggressive fish with the sharp barb under each eye.

Like almost all freshwater fish they do best eating premium food, which increases their energy and the intensity of their colors.

I got these two male Betta Fish a couple months ago. The guys at AquariumFish.net said they were Premium Unique Male Bettas.

I put each male in a nice 6-quart Fish Bowl with 5-quarts of water and a snap-on cover, so they couldn't jump out! I also added a layer about 1/4" deep of cultured gravel from a healthy aquarium plus a piece of lava rock.

The gravel works as a biological filter, and the lava rock removes the nitrate that's produced by the biological filtration. I would have liked to add a live plant, but the location of the bowls didn't have much light.

I feed all my Betta Fish 3 to 5 premium pellets 3 to 5 times a day. That's a lot of food for Betta Fish, but then they grow fast to a big size and get gorgeous colors from all the essential nutrients in the premium food pellets.

I pour out 20% of the water, which is one-quart, almost every day, and replace it with water from a nearby aquarium. it sounds like a lot of work, but it's not, and the
Betta Fish are healthier, when they get regular partial water changes.

In a couple of months the two males, shown above, were transformed from really pretty fish to gorgeous fish. I'm very proud of the way they've grown and turned out, and really it was easy. Give it a try.  ;^ }

Archer Fish at AquariumFish.net

22 July 2014
Archer Fish
Archers Fish are absolutely amazing!! You see, they have this magic trick, using their mouths as a squirt gun to shoot down insects! There are several closely related species of Archers, and they all do it.

They're also all brackish water fish; so you'll need to know what that means! They will also eat small fish that fit into their large mouths. So you definitely need to know a few things about Archers, before you get one for your aquarium.

By the way ours eat premium flake and pellet foods and grow fast to a maximum of about 5" long. They energetically swim most of the time, keeping an eye out for insects above the water. We like ours a lot.

Even so, aquarist love this species. It will live best in a group with at least 15-Mbunas in an aquarium with at least 75-gallons of water.

Silver Hujeta Gar
Although the Silver Hujeta Gar has a similar appearance to the infamous fish known as a Barracuda they are not related to them.

As seen in the picture above they have a kink in their nose, giving them a cool nickname, Slant-nose Gar.

Our Gars here love to feast on some feeder guppies, but are known to accept flakes, pellets, and frozen krill after a little patience teaching them.

Algae Eaters
The fish shown above is called a Siamese Algae Eater, and it's a wonderful aquarium fish that eats lots of algae. There's another fish called the Chinese Algae Eater that doesn't eat much algae and is not a good aquarium fish.

Just a few years ago this fish was very rare in aquariums, then our guys, here at AquariumFish.net, really figured out how to ship them safely, and now it's not so rare in aquariums.

Besides eating lots of algae this species loves to eat premium fish food flakes and pellets.  ;^}

The second fish is a large mature male Frontosa, whose ancestors lived in Lake Tanganyika, which is also in East Africa. But this fish was also born on a wonderful fish farm and raised up by DrTom.

Kribensis Cichlids

18 July 2014
Kribensis Cichlids
The male is above and the female below. The male has been featured here before, but DrTom just got the female, and as soon as the the male saw this new female, he lit up with much brighter colors.

The next step was to put a Cichlid Stone in their aquarium, and immediately both Kribensis began swimming in and out of it, then chasing the other fish away from the entrance.

It's probably too early to say these Kribensis are a pair, or that they will spawn, but DrTom hopes so. Freddie has a pair, feeds them premium food, and they've spawned several times.

Kribensis are wonderful aquarium fish and have been a favorite among aquarists for a long long time. This is the most colorful strain of Kribs that we've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Male Red Zebra for sale online

17 July 2014
Male Red Zebra
This fish was born in one of DrTom's big aquariums, where it hid among the rocks, when it was small.

One day Nevin saw it, when it was about 1" long, and said, "It's not really red. It's more like persimmon orange." DrTom smiled and decided to name it Little Percy.

But this little fish grew very fast, eating lots of premium flakes then premium pellet food, and soon DrTom could see he was a male.

Percy grew to be about 4" long, and one day he came out from among the rocks to challenge a much bigger male fish, who ruled the entire aquarium.

That afternoon the two males clashed in a ferocious fight, whirling about each other in tight circles. The fight lasted more than 2-hours, and in the end Percy was victorious. DrTom saw it all, and decided to rename him Sir Percival the Brave, the new ruler.

It was a very exciting slice of the way life is for these fish in Lake Malawi. We all hope you carefully watch your fish and enjoy them as much as DrTom enjoys his.

Golden Marbled Sailfin Pleco
The fish shown above is the same species as the Marbled Sailfin Pleco with L-Numbers L083 and L165. Some folks call this an albino, but it's only a partial albino, and it's better to call it golden instead of albino.

It's a very good aquarium fish. Very hardy, doesn't hide, energetic, and easy to see.

Notice the interesting omega-iris in its eye, which is completely different from a human's eye or a cat's eye. All of our Marbled Sailfin Plecos, both the Golden and the regular ones, are raised in ponds by fish farmers and not taken from the Amazon Rainforests. Pond raised fish are much better for aquariums, like yours.  ;^ }

Black Ghost Knifefish

This is a fish for advanced aquarists. It usually will only eat live foods. Black Ghosts are now spawned, raised, and supplied to us by very skillful fish farmers.

Shubunkin Goldfish

15 July 2014
Shubunkin
Whoa! Now this is a beautiful fish that lives in DrTom's Goldfish Aquarium.

DrTom, who takes most of the photos on this site, has several aquariums full of fish from AquariumFish.net, and all of the fish are gorgeous. His plan is to take a nice picture of each fish, then return it to AquariumFish.net.

But before he knows it, he gets to really loving each fish and then has trouble letting them go back. This Shubunkin has lived in one of DrTom's aquariums for a long time and keeps getting nicer and nicer, which makes it harder and harder to send him back.

Did I call this fish he? Yes, this fish is a male. How can you tell? By the white specks on his gill cover behind his eye. Male Goldfish get these spots, which are called nodules, when they're ready to breed.

Anywho, this is a wonderful fish for aquariums and ponds. Be sure to feed it premium foods to bring out the best in color, health, and energy.

Denitrifying Lava Rocks for Aquariums

15 July 2014
Lava Rocks for Aquariums
Lava Rocks, like those in the picture above, are very beneficial in all freshwater aquariums and fish bowls, where the Lava Rocks convert poisonous nitrates into nitrogen and oxygen, which are not poisonous.

Beneficial denitrifying bacteria, living inside the porous Lava Rocks, actually digest the nitrate. But some Lava Rocks may contain other toxins and not be safe for aquariums. Our Lava Rocks have been tested.

Tiger Oscar

15 July 2014
Tiger Red Oscar
This is a controversial aquarium fish. Why? Because they grow very fast and soon need a very large aquarium. How large? Eventually one Oscar can grow to need a 150-gallon aquarium or even bigger!

So buying an Oscar is not a casual decision. It should live for many years in a very large aquarium and deserves a dedicated owner! But people, who have one, love it as much as any other pet.

Like all of our fish we sell only premium quality Oscars and recommend feeding them only premium quality fish foods.

It's a member of a group of fish that aquarists call Malawi Peacocks, which feature very colorful mature males that are not as aggressive as the famous Mbuna Cichlids that live among the rocks along the shores of Lake Malawi.

The mature male in the picture, just above, was about 4.5" long and showing full coloration, when one of us took the picture.

Metallic Blue Wag Platy

Metallic Blue Wag Platy
There are many-many color variations of Aquarium Platys, and Metallic Blue Wags, like the young male shown just above, are one of the very nicest.

The word Wag in Platys and Swordtails is an abbreviation for Wagtail, which means the tail is black. Most folks prefer black tails to the more common clear tails, because black tails are easier to see wagging back and forth.

All of our Platys are premium aquarium fish, which means they're more colorful with a glossy sheen, more energetic, and so excellent aquarium fish. We feed our Platys premium flake and pellet foods.

This fish will build a small bubble next, spawn releasing floating eggs, then tend the next in a small aquarium with live floating plants.

Like Archer Fish this species will spit small drops of water at insects on plants just above the water surface.

Click here to read more details about where we ship.

Shipping Charges

You pay $33.25 to ship any size order. This includes the cost for the special insulated carton, packing the fish, and we prepay the delivery company.

You pay for the fish you want at the prices shown on our Price List plus one charge of $33.25 for shipping one order with as many fish as you order to one address.
FREE SHIPPING on LIVE ORDERS over $139.00
There's always an additional charge of $20.00 for shipments to Alaska and Hawaii. If you request delivery on Saturday, there's an additional charge of $15.00.
We try our best to keep shipping charges down, but we want to maximize the safety of the fish that are shipped, because we love them a lot. So we ship using "Overnight". The boxes leave here late in the afternoon and almost always arrive before noon the next day, and that's very safe for the fish.
Long ago a very nice fellow ordered one Ghost Shrimp for much less than $1.00 and the shipping charges were much, much more than that for one small box. Before shipping, we called him, and he said he was perfectly happy with the charges!
We were amazed and ended up sending him two extra free shrimps. He called back a couple of days later to thank us, and even said that it's much better watching three shrimps interact than just having one.
About a week or two later he order hundreds of fish. In fact his order required three or four large boxes! He was charged the same shipping charges.
So ... one shrimp or hundreds of fish the shipping charges are usually the same ... except we now temporarily offer ...

 About our Fish ...
Almost all the photographs and videos, shown on this web site, were taken by us of our fish in our aquariums.

Compare the healthy, beautiful, energetic fish in our beautiful aquariums to the fish in our competitors pictures. Their fish often look thin with clamped fins and poor color.
We buy the highest quality fish, produced by the best fish farms or caught by the best collectors of wild fish, then we take incredibly good care of our fish in our beautiful aquariums.

If you compare the pictures on this site to our competitors pictures, you can instantly see, our fish and aquariums are better!  ;^ }
Will the fish you get from us look like the fish in our pictures? No! This is similar to buying kittens and puppies that will change as they grow to become cats and dogs.

We stock and ship fish that are the ideal size to sell. Not so small that they will not do well when shipped. Yet not so big that they have become much more expensive.

The fish in almost all of our pictures were young fish like the ones we have for sale that we raised up, and you can too!
