Tiger Butterfly Loach for sale online

22 November 2014
Tiger Butterfly Loach
This is wild fish that was collected with great skill from rapidly flowing water in Viet Nam.

Because Tiger Butterfly Loaches naturally live in rapidly flowing water, their aquarium must also have rapid flowing water.

So it's best to have an oversized filter and perhaps an additional power-head to increase water movement.

They also prefer cooler water at say 70 to 75-degrees F., but they can tolerate warmer water, provided it's very well oxygenated.

They eat the bio-film growing on rocks, but ours do well here eating premium foods.

By the way this is a wonderful aquarium fish that's rarely listed on other websites. Or if it's listed, then it's marked out of stock. Or if it's in stock, it's at a much higher priced than our price.

Blueberry Shrimp
We like these shrimps a lot! They're really cute.

The one in this picture is fastidiously removing bits of uneaten food from a piece of Lava Rock in one of our small aquariums. By removing and eating bits of food, these small Shrimp help improve the water quality.

Honey Gouramis

20 November 2014
Golden Honey Gourami
This is yet another fabulous aquarium fish, especially for smaller aquariums, because Honey Gouramis only grow to be at most 2" long. Well that might not be entirely true ... mostly true but not always true, because unlike mammals, fish continue to grow their entire lives. So occasionally there's specimen that's much much larger than normal.

But this is a small fish that does very well with other small fish like Neon Tetras, While Clouds, and Cory Catfish. They prefer to eat premium flake food. We love them. The one shown above is a beautiful golden male. This is a very highly recommended aquarium fish.

Freshwater Aquarium Sharks
The deluge of wonderful aquarium fish continues with these Freshwater Aquarium Sharks, which are not closely related to Sharks that live in the oceans.

All of these Sharks are hardy, energetic, beautiful, and not aggressive except to their same species. So we recommend one of each species to an aquarium, unless the aquarium is very large.

18 November 2014
Emperor Tetra
DrTom says these Emperor Tetras just get more and more colorful everyday. The one in this picture must be a male, and he lives in one of our aquariums. He's a gorgeous fish and a little bit ornery, which makes him all the more fun to watch.

We've been feeding him premium foods, which  make a big difference in his colors and rapid growth. This is a wild fish that was born in Columbia in northern South America.

Honeycomb Catfish
Cute! Cute! Cute! This is a very cute aquarium catfish with a nice distinctive pattern and contrasting markings.

It's also hardy and energetic, does not hide like some catfishes do, and grows to be about 2.5" to 3" long, which is a very nice size for most aquariums.

These are wild fish from the upper Amazon Rainforest in Columbia. A highly recommended aquarium fish!  ;^ }

Several Female Betta Fish can live together in the same aquarium unlike Male Betta Fish that will fight and harm each other.

We feed our Female Bettas premium pellet food, which they gobble up. Feeding premium pellets greatly increases their energy, coloration, and sheen.

Premium foods are also more digestible with no fillers, so there is less waste, and the water stays cleaner.

Green Terror Cichlids

16 November 2014
Green Terror Cichlid
This fish's ancestors lived in freshwater streams and rivers along the coast of Ecuador and Peru in South America, but like most aquarium fish it was raised on a fish farm.

It's inexpensive, gorgeous, very hardy, very energetic and active. So far they haven't really caused trouble in our aquariums, but as many cichlid species mature and grow large, they can become aggressive and cause trouble. Even so, many aquarists think they're worth it!

We feed them premium flake foods, when they're small, and premium pellet foods, when they grow larger.

Snow White Lobster
This guy really stands out in an aquarium with a dark substrate like the one shown above. Grows to be about 5" long. Eats anything! Which can be a problem, but most healthy fish avoid being eaten.

Many aquarists say they love their pet Snow White Lobster.

Tiger Oscar

16 November 2014
Tiger Red Oscar
This is a controversial aquarium fish. Why? Because they grow very fast and soon need a very large aquarium. How large? Eventually one Oscar can grow to need a 150-gallon aquarium or even bigger!

So buying an Oscar is not a casual decision. It should live for many years in a very large aquarium and deserves a dedicated owner! But people, who have one, love it as much as any other pet.

Like all of our fish we sell only premium quality Oscars and recommend feeding them only premium quality fish foods.

Lemon Jake
This fish's ancestors lived in Lake Malawi in East Africa, but as usual this fish was born and raised on a famous fish farm.

It's a member of a group of fish called the Malawi Peacocks, which are all wonderful aquarium fish, because they are very colorful, energetic, hardy, not too aggressive, and grow to just the right size for aquariums containing eighty or more gallons of water.

Borneo Loaches for sale

14 November 2014
Borneo Loach
This fish species is a member of the group called Hillstream Loaches that live in rapidly flowing streams of water.

Most rapidly flowing streams contain water that's very fresh and highly oxygenated, and all Hillstream Loaches are adapted to that sort of water. You'll often see them right under the filter, where the water is the freshest.

Serpae Tetras

Lemon Tetra

13 November 2014
Amazon Tetras
These are two closely related Tetras from the wonderful Amazon Rainforests in South America. Both fish are species in the genus named Hyphessobrycon.

Well no not quite. Both fish are probably hybrids of two or more such species. Just like many of the most colorful orchids are hybrids of two or more species.

Whatever the genealogy of these fish, they are really good aquarium fish.

The top picture shows a nice school of ten Serpae Tetras, and the bottom picture shows a Lemon Tetra. Both species are hardy, energetic, beautiful, inexpensive, and highly recommended.

Singapore Shrimp for Sale Online

13 November 2014
Singapore Shrimp
These Singapore Shrimp are a favorite of many aquarists. They're also called Wood Shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp, or Flower Shrimp.

This one was perched on a plant just under the aquarium filter, where the water was moving fastest, and it held out its fan-like hands to strain-out tiny bits of food, which it then put in it's mouth. Fun to watch!

They can grow to be almost 5" long, which is a nice size for lots of aquariums. Being filter feeders, they're harmless to fish, but Loaches, Pufferfish, and large fish may eat them.

Metallic Blue Wag Platy for sale online

12 November 2014
Metallic Blue Wag Platy
There are many-many color variations of Aquarium Platys, and Metallic Blue Wags, like the young male shown just above, are one of the very nicest.

The word Wag in Platys and Swordtails is an abbreviation for Wagtail, which means the tail is black. Most folks prefer black tails to the more common clear tails, because black tails are easier to see wagging back and forth.

All of our Platys are premium aquarium fish, which means they're more colorful with a glossy sheen, more energetic, and so excellent aquarium fish. We feed our Platys premium flake and pellet foods.

Orange Endler's Livebearer

12 November 2014
Orange Endler's
This is a recently developed color variation of the Endler's Livebearer, and this variation is much brighter than the original variation.

In fact it's so bright that it's very difficult to photograph, and the picture, shown above, does not really capture the dazzlingly bright orange color of this fish.

Of course the fish in the picture is a young male and the females are usually camouflaged with olive-green.

Endler's are extremely healthy, energetic, and make ideal aquarium fish.

Dwarf Gouramis at AquariumFish.net

11 November 2014
Dwarf Gourami
This is a long time favorite aquarium fish for many reasons. It grows to be a maximum of 3.5" long, which is a nice size for many aquariums. Males, like the one shown above, are very colorful, and this species is rather easy to breed, which can be fun!

Fish farmers also produce a solid red variety and a sold blue variety, and both of those varieties are very beautiful too. This species does very well on premium fish food.

Pictus Catfish
A Pictus Cat constantly swims and examines the bottom with it's long whiskers that are covered with taste buds to find bits of uneaten food, which the Pictus quickly eats, keeping the aquarium clean.

And all the time they're working to keep the aquarium clean, they do it with a big smile, like the smile on this Pictus.

These Pictus are wild fish from Peru and have a beautiful pattern of dark marks on a silver background with long-long curved whiskers.

This is one of the best aquarium catfish species and highly recommended.

Tiger Barb

11 November 2014
Tiger Barbs
Our Tiger Barbs are raised on one of the best fish farms in the world, and these are shiny, glossy, premium quality fish, as you can see in the picture just above.

In addition to the normal variety, shown above, there is also the Golden variety and the Green variety. All types of Tiger Barbs are beautiful, energetic, hardy, and inexpensive.

Any drawbacks to this fish? Really just one: Tiger Barbs are nippers that will nip the fins of Angelfish, Betta Males, Silver Dollars, and several other fish.

So you must be careful in choosing compatible tank mates such as Danios, Gouramis, Rainbowfishes, Mollies, Swordtails, Platies, Loaches, Plecostomus, and other Catfish.

Nipping can also be minimized by keeping Tiger Barbs in a school of Tiger Barbs. The bigger the school: the less the nipping on other species, because the Tiger Barbs spend most of their time interacting with each other and frequently have whirling battles that are exciting and fun to watch.

To bring out their best coloration, energy, and health we feed them premium fish food. This is a very popular and highly recommended aquarium fish species.

German Blue Ram for sale online

10 November 2014
German Blue Ram
Here's a Dwarf Cichlid species from the Rainforests of South America, and you can see it's gorgeous.

This Ram measures about 2.75" long and is the longest Ram that DrTom has ever seen. It's also the deepest body, looking very robust and trying to dominate an aquarium with larger fish.

We feed ours premium food several times a day, and that really brings out the best in their colors. It also gives them more energy and a beautiful sheen.
We never see Rams like these offered anywhere else.

Dragon Fish for sale online

10 November 2014
Dragon Fish
Dragons like this one prefer cooler water with some aquarium salt added to the water. This is the same sort of water Goldfish prefer, and you can keep a Dragon with some Goldfish.

The main concern in keeping Dragons successfully is feeding them. They like small fish, Ghost Shrimp, and live worms. Goldfish eat the worms but not the small fish and shrimp.

Once DrTom had some Goldfish and added both a Dragon Fish and about a dozen Ghost Shrimp. But the Dragon couldn't find the shrimp. After several days the shrimps danced up and down the back of the Dragon. Then one morning all the shrimp were gone.

Last week we got a bunch of new Males labeled "Snow White", and immediately we said, "Yee-Oww, those are EXCITING and much prettier than we were hoping for." We also wondered, "How does our buyer find fish like these on the other side of the world?"

Often when a new fish is very beautiful like these are, they're also very healthy and energetic. It all goes together. They're eating lots of premium flake food, and eager to come and live in your aquarium. How's that for EXCITING? We love them.

Their unique nose also acts as a walking stick, so make sure to keep the substrate in your tank mostly sand!

Ghost Catfish
This is a wonderful aquarium fish. Its body is transparent and with a magnifying glass you can see its heart beating.

Most catfish swim near the bottom of the aquarium, but this species usually stays in the upper third away from the lights.

This fish is not aggressive to other fish and lives well with small Tetras like Neons and Cardinals.

It's also active and hardy. All of which makes it a wonderful aquarium fish.

Neon Rainbowfish
The two pictures, shown just above, are of the same fish, but the lower picture was taken five months after the top picture.

We buy and sell many thousands of fish each week, and we like to occasionally pick out a nice one and raise it up in our own aquariums, like we are doing with this fish, which was great when we got it and is getting better all the time.

This is a wonderful aquarium fish. Very hardy, brightly colored, very active, grows to about 3", and is not a trouble maker!

RedEye Red Swordtail Male

06 November 2014
Red Eye Red Swords
Long-long ago, back in the late 1960s and early 1970s DrTom raised Swordtails in his parent's basement and backyard. He hired his younger brother Nevin to help, and eventually they became partners.

Their Swordtails were widely acclaimed as the best anyone had ever seen! In fact their Swords looked like the ones just above, but without the red eyes. These are the first Swordtails that DrTom has seen in some 40-years that were as good as his!

So they are really-really nice and big with lots of energy and really awesome red color. The males have big swords like you see in the picture above.

Royal Banded Loach
This fish is new, rare, and very interesting. Ours are all wild fish, which were caught in small rivers in northern Burma in Asia.

Like many fish from rivers, they are long, slender, and need to live in very fresh water. So we give their aquarium frequent partial water changes and plenty of aeration. DrTom recommends a Bio-Wheel Filter.

They do very well on a diet of premium flake and pellet foods. These are Premium Pet Fish.

Aquarium Frogs at AquariumFish.net

05 November 2014
African Dwarf Frogs
Someone said that this African Dwarf Frogs was seen tiptoeing home late last night, after too much fun at a rowdy party. It's possible, but knowing this particular frog the way we do, we've got our doubts.

Even when they're not tiptoeing these small Frogs are still very entertaining. A long-long time ago The Bailey Bros' mother, Faye, kept one in a pickle jar with a sprig of foxtail plant in her kitchen on the counter by the stove.

On cold days she'd move it a couple inches closer to the stove, where it would be a little warmer. It lived there for many years.

Sumo Loach at AquariumFish.net

05 November 2014
Sumo Loach
This is not a common Aquarium Fish, but we stock both popular aquarium fish and fish like this one that should be popular.

This fish is more elongated than the picture shows. We like its long slim shape and its pink coloration with dark markings. By the way can you see the lipstick mark on his cheek?  ;^ }

This Sumo does not hide and is very interesting to watch, as it hops around the bottom, usually stopping on top of a rock. It seems to prefer rocks that are right under the water fall from the filter, where the water is highly aerated.

We feed our Sumo Loaches premium flake and pellet foods, which they like to eat. This is a hardy, energetic, and highly recommended aquarium fish!

Shubunkin Goldfish at AquariumFish.net

04 November 2014
Shubunkin
Whoa! Now this is a beautiful fish that lives in DrTom's Goldfish Aquarium.

DrTom, who takes most of the photos on this site, has several aquariums full of fish from AquariumFish.net, and all of the fish are gorgeous. His plan is to take a nice picture of each fish, then return it to AquariumFish.net.

But before he knows it, he gets to really loving each fish and then has trouble letting them go back. This Shubunkin has lived in one of DrTom's aquariums for a long time and keeps getting nicer and nicer, which makes it harder and harder to send him back.

Did I call this fish he? Yes, this fish is a male. How can you tell? By the white specks on his gill cover behind his eye. Males get these spots, which are called nodules, when they're ready to breed.

Anywho, this is a wonderful fish for aquariums and ponds. Be sure to feed it premium foods to bring out the best in color, health, and energy.

Ghost Shrimp at AquariumFish.net

04 November 2014
Ghost Shrimp
Does this Shrimp look kind of ghostly? Not to us. We think it looks as cute as a bug's ear! But Ghost Shrimp are small, measuring about 1" long; so it's nice to have an inexpensive magnifying glass to watch one, using all four of its arm-like appendages to pick tiny bits of food from the bottom of the aquarium and put those bits into its mouth.

In this way Ghost Shrimp help keep the aquarium clean and the water fresh. We love our Ghost Shrimp and highly recommend them. Plus they're very inexpensive.

Gold Spot Pikehead for sale

31 October 2014
Gold Spot Pikehead
This is a very beautiful and interesting fish, which is closely related to the Gouramis, and like most Gouramis it naturally lives in water with low pH and low oxygen.

Unlike Gouramis this species is a predator that ambushes small fish and surrounds them with its huge extended mouth.

This is probably a fish that we should recommend to so-called advanced aquarists.

It's also a mouthbrooder that has spawned in aquariums.

Just a few years ago Siamese Algae Eaters were very rare in aquariums, then our guys, here at AquariumFish.net, really figured out how to ship them safely, and now it's not so rare in aquariums.

There are many-many color variations of Aquarium Platys, and Coral Blue Hifins, like the young male shown just above, are one of the very nicest.

 Customer Comments
... I would like to compliment you on your operation. I ordered some fishes from your company about 8 months ago. I have to admit, I was very apprehensive about having live fish shipped through the mail and your method of introducing them into a tank.

Much to my surprise, all the fish I bought acclimated much faster and better than the bag method, as you promised. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find that you added three extra Cooley Loaches free of charge! They are all thriving ...

Wonderful? Here's what DrTom likes about it. Seems to be about full grown now at about 1.75" or so, and that's really a nice size fish for many aquariums. Corys are not aggressive, but have spiny fins so other fish don't usually bother Corys. Chocolate Ghost Knifefish
This is young wild fish that lived in the Amazon Rainforests in South America, where they live in water with very little dissolved minerals.

They produce weak electrical signals that travel well through the water, because the water contains very little dissolved minerals. These signals are used to sense the environment and to communicate.

They have tiny eyes, because they depend more on the electric field than on their ability to see.

Big Texas Cichlids
This fish's ancestors lived in the lower Rio Grande River drainage in Texas, but this fish was born on a fish farm and raised in one of DrTom's aquariums.

This species grows fast to be about 12", and at that size will need a very large aquarium with at least 150 gallons of water. The fish pictured above was about 7" long, when the picture was taken, and is not yet fully colored.

This species can live for many years and become a much loved pet! We recommend feeding them premium fish food.

Kribensis Cichlids

16 October 2014
Kribensis Cichlids
The male is above and the female below. The male has been featured here before, but DrTom just got the female, and as soon as the the male saw this new female, he lit up with much brighter colors.

The next step was to put a Cichlid Stone in their aquarium, and immediately both Kribensis began swimming in and out of it, then chasing the other fish away from the entrance.

Kribensis are wonderful aquarium fish and have been a favorite among aquarists for a long long time. This is the most colorful strain of Kribs that we've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Corydoras Catfish

16 October 2014
Corydoras Catfish
Corydoras is a very large genus of Dwarf Catfish that live in the Amazon Rainforest. They're all wonderful aquarium fish. Even if you're not quite sure which one is living in your aquarium like DrTom, who's not quite sure what species these Corys are. But whatever their names they're wonderful aquarium fish.

Wonderful? Here's what DrTom likes about these Cory Catfish. They seem to be about full grown now at 1.75" or so, and that's really a nice size fish for many aquariums. Corys are not aggressive, but have spiny fins so other fish usually don't bother them. As you can see they're very attractive, plus they're hardy, energetic, and easy to feed premium flake and pellet foods.

Amazon Sword Plant

15 October 2014
Live Aquarium Plants
This is a picture of an Amazon Sword Plant, which is native to the Amazon Rainforest but is now cultivated in huge greenhouses just for aquariums.

We buy them in pots. So their roots will not be disrupted and damaged. The ones we have for sale are smaller than the one shown in the picture, above, but they grow fast.

Live plants improve the water quality in aquariums by absorbing dissolved fish waste, which is a wonderful plant fertilizer.

Shipping Charges

You pay $33.25 to ship any size order. This includes the cost for the special insulated carton, packing the fish, and we prepay the delivery company.

You pay for the fish you want at the prices shown on our Price List plus one charge of $33.25 for shipping one order with as many fish as you order to one address.
FREE SHIPPING on LIVE ORDERS over $139.00
There's always an additional charge of $20.00 for shipments to Alaska and Hawaii. If you request delivery on Saturday, there's an additional charge of $16.00.
We try our best to keep shipping charges down, but we want to maximize the safety of the fish that are shipped, because we love them a lot. So we ship using "Overnight". The boxes leave here late in the afternoon and almost always arrive before noon the next day, and that's very safe for the fish.
Long ago a very nice fellow ordered one Ghost Shrimp for much less than $1.00 and the shipping charges were much, much more than that for one small box. Before shipping, we called him, and he said he was perfectly happy with the charges!
We were amazed and ended up sending him two extra free shrimps. He called back a couple of days later to thank us, and even said that it's much better watching three shrimps interact than just having one.
About a week or two later he order hundreds of fish. In fact his order required three or four large boxes! He was charged the same shipping charges.
So ... one shrimp or hundreds of fish the shipping charges are usually the same ... except we now temporarily offer ...

 About our Fish ...
Almost all the photographs and videos, shown on this web site, were taken by us of our fish in our aquariums.

Compare the healthy, beautiful, energetic fish in our beautiful aquariums to the fish in our competitors pictures. Their fish often look thin with clamped fins and poor color.

We buy the highest quality fish, produced by the best fish farms or caught by the best collectors of wild fish, then we take incredibly good care of our fish in our beautiful aquariums.

If you compare the pictures on this site to our competitors pictures, you can instantly see, our fish and aquariums are better!  ;^ }

Will the fish you get from us look like the fish in our pictures? No! This is similar to buying kittens and puppies that will change as they grow to become cats and dogs.

We stock and ship fish that are the ideal size to sell. Not so small that they will not do well when shipped. Yet not so big that they have become much more expensive.

The fish in almost all of our pictures were young fish like the ones we have for sale that we raised up, and you can too!
